Martin Šojdr

He studied animated film at the Department of Fine Arts in Ostrava. He has been working as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for more than nine years. He is part of the creative duo Puk-Puk, which deals with graphics, illustration, animation, T-shirt design, painting, VJing and installations.

The Puk-Puk duo has had several solo and group exhibitions. Besides graphic design and illustration, it co-organizes club parties under the name Bassta Fidli. These parties combine a musical fusion of contemporary club sound with themes of oriental, South American, African music or echoes of Central European and Balkan folklore. The musical component is complemented by distinctive decorations, sails, installations and projections.

Folklore and ornament is a major theme for Martin Šojdra, both in his native Slovácko region and in its variations in other European countries – Russia or South America. He is interested in the traditional use of ornament as well as its contemporary use in fashion, graphic design, painting, installations and product design.
